Tom Berryman

Technical Director

Hi there, I’m Tom Berryman, Technical Director at Connectivity I.T. I have been in the technology industry for 10 years now, so from quite a young age. When I was 15 I assisted my parents then growing business with some small computer related issues. Technology was different back then, simpler but less information was available too, I had to develop a problem solving mentality. I succeeded and enjoyed challenges. I guess that’s where I got my start. Later that year I started a Cisco CCNA certification at St Pauls Grammar in Warragul, I achieved great results and further developed my problem solving skills.

When I finished high school I went to RMIT for a time. I have a lot of appreciation for the skills I learnt there. During my first year out of school I worked at a local computer store doing sales and support. I enjoyed both aspects of that job and was later promoted to sales manager at the end of my first year. However this did not last long, I was fortunate enough for my parents to offer me a job in there organisation. I took this opportunity and it presented great challenges both technical and political. I enjoyed them all and I am grateful for the position as again it forced me to adapt and learn new skills. Working at Roylaines I was also afforded the opportunity to further my education with RMIT.

In 2006 I began consulting for other organisations. Spreading my wings like this was a real eye opener. Again this challenged my learning ability as I had to adapt too many proprietary software packages and deal with many more vendors. Planning and organisation skills were critical.

In 2007 Jacob, my long-time friend, and I discussed a potential partnership. His skills were critical to my development in the technology industry, his support, opinions and ideas helped me take my knowledge to the next level. The challenges we faced together after this resulted in many new training programs for many different products and again my knowledge and skills expanded as they still do every day. I still service my parents technology needs and they are an excellent client.

My future goals are to develop industry leading solution designs to deliver the best IT solutions possible small business and to further improve my enterprise data centre design skills. What most excites me about technology at the moment are the solutions we are producing for multi-site clients and our high availability work.
