Data Centre Power Delivery

by [Profile] | Friday, April 6th, 2012

Today the first stage in our Phoenix Street data centre power delivery project has been completed. The new UPS is online and attached to all hosted servers. This will immediately increase run time 5 fold. No interuptions occured during this implemenation.
Stage 2 is the installation of the generator. This is scheduled for completion on 11/4/2012.

Scehduled Outage

by [Profile] | Thursday, April 5th, 2012

Date: 6/4/2012
Window: 10am to 10pm
Duration: Potential 5 minute interruptions at multiple times during the window.
Affects: All services.

Connectivity I.T. will be conducting maintenance on our power supply to our data centre. Core infrastructure has dual feed power so will likely not be affected however many services will be as their hardware is migrated to the new UPS system and generator backup feed.

The long-term benefits of this will put our data centre into world-class standards. All services will be able to remain online without any power grid feed and be unaffected by fibre optic failures.

Network Upgrade Complete

by [Profile] | Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

After testing this evening we can now confirm our redundant internet path is operational. This ensures that all hosted services will be online and available regardless of the status of our upstream providers.

Further to this our network is scheduled for a significant speed improvement this Friday.

Network Upgrade: BGP Project

by [Profile] | Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

At 5pm today we completed initiation of a redundant BGP path to the internet. This has eliminated all single points of failure from our network.

At 6pm tonight we will be performing some failover testing that will cause a short interuption to services.

Network Upgrade

by [Profile] | Monday, January 16th, 2012

At present we are undergoing a significant network upgrade to deliver 100% carrier redundancy. What this means for Cloud customers and Data Centre users alike is internet access even in the event of a catastrophic ISP failure.

The process involves deployment of 2 new routers and a significant rework of the network to accomodate our new IP addressing scheme.

Presently the new routers have been deployed and pushed into production this evening. The process went very well and as such over the next 48 hours we will be changing the client demarcation points to their new destinations. This will incur a few minutes of disruption.

We expect our tertiary path to be deployed by the 27th of this January, and we also expect a significant improvement in bandwidth on January 25.

This project not only allows Connectivity I.T. services much higher than standard reliability but the solution can be used to enhance the reliability of your networks too.

Anti-Spam Glitch: Fixed

by [Profile] | Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

Recently a glitch with our anti spam system prevented scheduled reports from being delivered. This would mean that quarantined items would have been stored for approximately 1 week until yesterday the 21st of December 2011.

Measures have been taken to ensure that this does not occur again. The root cause appears to have been a short disconnect between the spam server array servers during our core switching firmware upgrade.

During this issue mail was still processed and delivered which is why the issue carried on for so long without being identified.

If you ever have any concerns you can manually generate a report through this page: http://www.connectivityit.com.au/support/get-spamreport/

Updating Printer Configurations

by [Profile] | Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

We had recently made changes to a clients network updating the IP range. This required updating the printer IP’s to the new range. The problem however was that every PC over multiple sites was configured with the static IP Address of the printer. What to do? This script creates a new printer port, then assigns the port to the printer of choice. We were able to set this to run on computer startup and everyone was happy. Change the sections in bold as you require.

strComputer = "."
Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _
& "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\\\" & strComputer & "\\root\\cimv2")
Set objNewPort = objWMIService.Get _
("Win32_TCPIPPrinterPort").SpawnInstance_

objNewPort.Name = "NAME"
objNewPort.Protocol = 1
objNewPort.HostAddress = "127.0.0.1"
objNewPort.PortNumber = "9100"
objNewPort.SNMPCommunity = "public"
objNewPort.SNMPDevIndex = 1
objNewPort.SNMPEnabled = True
objNewPort.Put_

Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\\\" & strComputer & "\\root\\cimv2"))

Set colPrinters = objWMIService.ExecQuery _
("Select * From Win32_Printer Where DeviceID='PRINTER NAME'")

For Each objPrinter in colPrinters
objPrinter.PortName = objNewPort.Name
objPrinter.Put_
Next
